In 1941, Patek Philippe introduced the reference 1518, the first perpetual calendar chronograph made in series, and quietly set the standard every grand complication since has been measured against. The line that followed, through the 2499, the 3970 and the 5970, became the backbone of serious collecting, and the 5270 carries that lineage forward with a chronograph movement developed and built entirely in house. To wear one is to keep the calendar of the years and the measure of the seconds at once, with the calm assurance of a house that has been doing exactly this for generations. Here the 41mm platinum case and platinum bezel frame a deep green dial on a crocodile strap, giving the watch a rich, unhurried presence that reads as understated from across the room and unmistakable up close.
